EXTRAORDINARY REGULARIZATION

In 2026, the Spanish Government has begun processing an extraordinary regularization for foreigners already living in Spain in an irregular situation, with the aim of providing legal security and facilitating their social and labor integration.

Main requirements

To be able to apply, the following is generally required:

  • Be in Spain before December 31, 2025.

  • Prove a minimum continuous stay of 5 months at the time of submitting the application.

  • No criminal record.


Applicants for international protection (asylum):
It will be sufficient that the application was submitted before December 31, 2025 and can be proven.
 

Expected deadlines

According to the question and answer document from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, applications are expected to begin being submitted in early April 2026 (after the preliminary procedures) and the process will be open until June 30, 2026.

What do you get?

The residence permit automatically enables you to work throughout the national territory and in any sector, with an initial validity of 1 year.
